Wow those taste buds in Wellers' burbs

Poverty Bay Wine Dinner, Published in Sunday Star Times, May 22 2011

Last Thursday, Coucou Restaurant in Karori, in association with Poverty Bay Wines, hosted an evening of beautiful wine and delicious food influenced by the Bordeaux region of France. The degustation menu, created by chef Jerome Touzard, was nothing short of sensational, matched with superb quality wines from well-known Wellingtonian Klaus Sorensen's Bridge Estate vineyard in Poverty Bay. A fabulous feast of the very best of New Zealand's harvest, coupled with the talent of an amazing chef.

Coucou is a member of the Conscious Consumers initiative which encourages cafes and restaurants to demonstrate a commitment to environmental and socially conscious business practices.

About

Coucou, Karori's local French bistro, offers a truly authentique and unpretentious taste of France.

Jerome Touzard, the head chef and owner, grew up in Brittany and trained as a chef in France before working his way to the top in some of the best restaurants in London [including those at the Savoy, Hilton and Waldorf hotels] and in Sydney.

On sunny days you can borrow our boules and enjoy a game of petanque and a glass of pastis in the sunny back yard.

And, when it's windy and wet you can warm up with a bowl of delicious homemade French onion soup, a hearty RibEye and a nice glass of vin rouge.

Our wine list has a great selection of red, white, bubbly and dessert wines with an emphasis on the smaller boutique local and French vineyards.
